Fort Smith, AR – The Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine (ARCOM) has awarded Anthony Vargas the 2024-2025 Student Researcher of the Year. Vargas, a third-year ARCOM student set to graduate in May 2026, earned the recognition for his exceptional commitment to osteopathic research.
The Student Researcher of the Year Committee formed at ARCOM selects the school’s winner. One student is selected at each College of Osteopathic Medicine across the nation for this award and will go on to compete for the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) National Student Researcher of the Year award.
The ARCOM Student Researcher of the Year Committee commended Vargas’ leadership in research, noting his first-author peer-reviewed publication and ability to excel academically while managing medical school’s rigorous demands.
According to AACOM, “The award recognizes osteopathic medical students with highly competitive experiences and advancement in clinical, translational, or basic science research.”
