Student doctors from the Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine (ARCOM) made a meaningful impact on the River Valley community through the second annual Remote Area Medical (RAM) Clinic, held Oct. 24-25 at Kay Rodgers Park in Fort Smith.
Preliminary numbers from RAM show that 328 patients were registered and $249,678 in free medical, dental and vision services were provided during the two-day clinic.
Organized by ARCOM student doctors, the clinic brought together healthcare professionals, students and community volunteers to provide essential care to individuals and families who may otherwise face barriers to accessing healthcare services.
The event reflects ARCOM’s ongoing commitment to improving healthcare access in rural and underserved communities while providing student doctors with valuable hands-on experience serving patients in need.
The clinic’s success was made possible through the dedication of student organizers, healthcare professionals and volunteers, along with generous support from the Degen Foundation and First Presbyterian Church of Fort Smith, which provided an additional donation during the event.
ARCOM extends its sincere gratitude to the community partners, volunteers and supporters who helped make this year’s clinic possible and continue to support its mission of serving those in need.
