
Joshua Burns, PhD
Dr. Joshua Burns is an Assistant Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at ARCOM. Dr. Burns obtained a BS in chemistry from Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO and completed a Ph.D. in Microbiology at the University of Missouri. During his graduate work, Dr. Burns studied the clostridial neurotoxin family of protein toxins. Upon completing his graduate studies, he accepted a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. As a postdoc he continued his study of bacterial toxins, working with the cholesterol dependent cytolysin family of pore forming toxins. Additionally, Dr. Burns spent 7 years working as a microbiology technician in a large clinical micro lab and has taught and mentored graduate and undergraduate students.
