Naunihal Zaveri, PhD

Dr. Naunihal (Nina) Zaveri is an Associate Professor in Pharmacology, and serves as Chair of Immunology, Microbiology and Pharmacology. She obtained her BS degree in India, followed by an MS in Pharmacology/Toxicology at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA, and a PhD from The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. She worked for several years as a Scientist doing preclinical pharmacology and toxicology studies for drug discovery and development. She transitioned to a career as a pharmacology medical educator in 2011, and has taught at osteopathic and allopathic medical schools in the US. Her expertise lies in small group active learning formats including PBL, CBL and TBL. She serves as National Faculty for the NBOME (National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners), as an Item Writer/Reviewer for licensure exams. She joined ARCOM in Jan 2021 and is enthusiastic about being part of a team to create excellence in medical education.

Accomplishments

Dr. Zaveri serves as an Item Writer/Reviewer for the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME), and has been a member of their National Faculty for 9 years. She is experienced as a Problem-Based Learning facilitator, and as a medical educator who uses active learning formats.

Areas of Expertise/Interest

Dr. Zaveri's areas of expertise include small group active learning, assessments in pharmacology and writing cases that integrate basic and clinical sciences.
