Barry D. Owen a resident of Greenwood recently retired from Fort Smith Public Schools after 34 years of service. Dr. Owen began his career as a science teacher in 1985. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Arkansas. Owen went on to complete both Masters and Doctorate degrees in Educational Administration. During his tenure as an administrator he held numerous positions. For the last 18 years Barry served as a district administrator retiring in June as the chief academic officer.

He and his wife Robin live in Greenwood. They have a daughter, Catherine.
