John Classen

John Classen served over 29 years at the Fort Smith Police Department and retired at the rank of Sergeant in May 2017. He spent much of his career as a patrolman and a supervisor in the Patrol Division. He is a 1988 graduate of the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. He retired after over 22 years in the Arkansas Army National Guard and served two deployments during the Persian Gulf War (1990-91) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003-04). He is a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #39 and has extensive training and experience in Law Enforcement Patrol Operations and Supervision. Officer Classen and his wife, Jane, live in Charleston, Ar. They have one adult daughter and a granddaughter./
