Congratulations to ARCOM for being selected as a testing site for the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME).
Arkansas Colleges of Health Education (ACHE) is proud to announce that Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine (ARCOM) has been chosen as one of the eight prestigious institutions nationwide to serve as a testing site for the Core Competency Capstone for Doctors of Osteopathy (C3DO) Phase 2 Pilot Program, developed by the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME).
Shannon Jimenez, DO, Dean of ARCOM stated, “The primary objective of the C3DO is to establish a robust and standardized assessment that can be administered locally at colleges of osteopathic medicine. This examination aims to evaluate students’ competency in fundamental osteopathic clinical skills, aligning with a national standard. The NBOME has designed the C3DO pilot program to replace the Physical Examination component of COMLEX, and ARCOM is honored to be a part of this groundbreaking initiative.”
ARCOM’s acceptance into this program comes with a substantial grant of $40,000, earmarked to support various activities related to the successful execution of the Pilot. These funds will be allocated strategically, including the subsidization, or hiring of essential staff to ensure the seamless administration of the examination.
“The pivotal role played by the Center for Clinical Skills Development at ARCOM cannot be overstated. Through collaborative efforts with faculty and the NBOME, the Center will transform the C3DO from a mere examination into a comprehensive evaluation, equipping our students with the essential skills needed for their future medical careers,” explained Dr. Jimenez. “Serving as a testing site for NBOME’s C3DO elevates ARCOM’s national standing within the osteopathic medical community. This recognition is expected to attract high-caliber students and faculty, further contributing to the institution’s growth and success.”
Participation in the C3DO capstone testing process will not only provide valuable insights into the evolving landscape of osteopathic medical education but also empower ARCOM to continuously enhance its curriculum. This commitment ensures that ARCOM graduates meet the highest standards of professional competency in the dynamic field of healthcare.
Collaboration with the NBOME opens doors for partnerships with other medical institutions and organizations. The resulting networking opportunities may lead to joint research initiatives and collaborative projects that enrich the educational experience at ARCOM.
Through active participation in the NBOME’s C3DO Phase 2 Pilot Program, ARCOM is making a direct and significant contribution to the ongoing improvement of osteopathic medical education both locally and nationally.
