Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine

FORT SMITH, AR — The Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine (ARCOM), a proud part of the Arkansas Colleges of Health Education (ACHE), has achieved a major milestone: a 10-year Accreditation with Exceptional Outcomes from the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA). This prestigious designation is the highest level of accreditation offered by COCA and places ARCOM among the top tier of osteopathic medical schools in the nation.

“This achievement is a direct reflection of the dedication, expertise, and vision of our faculty, staff, and students,” said Kyle D. Parker, JD, President & CEO of ACHE. “Earning COCA’s highest accreditation is not just a recognition of our past, it’s a powerful validation of our future. We’re building something transformative here in Fort Smith, and the results speak for themselves.”

The 10-year accreditation follows a rigorous multi-year evaluation process that examines every facet of ARCOM, from academic programming and institutional mission to governance, faculty qualifications, and student services. The designation of “Exceptional Outcomes” further underscores ARCOM’s commitment to exceeding the national standards for educational quality in osteopathic medicine.

COCA, recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, ensures that osteopathic medical colleges meet or exceed a comprehensive set of quality benchmarks. Receiving its full endorsement is a testament to ARCOM’s excellence in medical education, innovation, and service to the community.

“We’ve worked tirelessly to create a program that prepares future physicians to lead with compassion, skill, and integrity,” said Shannon Jimenez, DO, Dean of ARCOM. “This accreditation confirms that our efforts are not only on the right track but setting a new standard. I am so proud of our entire team.”

As ARCOM continues to expand its reach and impact across Arkansas and beyond, this accreditation solidifies its reputation as a premier destination for aspiring osteopathic physicians. The next decade holds even greater promise for the college and the communities it serves.
