Dr. Tareq Al Maqtari is a distinguished pharmacology educator with a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Louisville, USA, earned in 2015. With over 13 years of teaching experience—including 2.5 years in the Pharm.D. program at South Dakota State University and six years in the Middle East—Dr. Al Maqtari possesses a robust background in pharmacology, physiology, pathophysiology, and toxicology. His commitment to academic excellence is evidenced by more than 12 awards and honors, notably a two-year Fulbright scholarship to the USA and the “Teacher of the Year” award from South Dakota State University in 2024.

Currently, Dr. Al Maqtari serves as an Associate Professor of Pharmacology at the Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine (ARCOM), a component of the Arkansas Colleges of Health Education (ACHE) in Fort Smith, Arkansas. At ARCOM, he teaches pharmacology segments of courses such as BECOM3 and BECOM4 to osteopathic medical students. Beyond his teaching responsibilities, he contributes to the institution by serving on the Admissions Committee and the Student Conduct Committee, among other roles.

Dr. Al Maqtari’s research focuses on identifying natural compounds in medicinal plants that may serve as safer and more effective treatments for infectious diseases, cancer, and metabolic disorders. He collaborates with researchers in the Middle East to advance this work, aligning with ACHE’s mission to enhance healthcare through innovative research initiatives.

Through his integrated approach to teaching, research, and service, Dr. Al Maqtari is dedicated to preparing future healthcare professionals with the essential knowledge and skills for safe and effective patient care.
